Soil Technician

Protest Engineering was established in 2015 and provides a diverse range of services for the Construction Industry. Protest Engineering has seen massive growth in the Central Queensland region and is now servicing some of the largest mining companies in the country.

As a Senior Soil / Laboratory Technician we will require you to:

  • Undertake both field and laboratory testing across a broad range of methods, including but not limited to Australian Standards, QDOT, RMS and AST
  • Complete laboratory testing at the required production level
  • Undertake training in test methods
  • Follow procedures directed by the Senior Technicians team
  • Learn the internal Protest Software Matrix (PSM)
  • Prepare worksheets checking measurements and calculations of test results of other technicians
  • Liaise with internal staff and clients
  • Maintain, clean and test equipment while keeping

You will be self-motivated, a fast learner and bring a positive attitude to the team.

We are ideally looking for experienced technicians who possesses:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • The ability to work flexible hours and travel for work when required
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work under pressure, show initiative, prioritise and schedule work
  • The ability to be a team player and work unsupervised


  • Own car and an open drivers licence
  • Minimum of 5 year’s relevant experience
  • Minimum of Certificate 4 in Construction Materials Testing or Diploma
  • Nuclear License
  • Signatories
