Soil Technician / Laboratory Technician

About the role

Protest Engineering Melbourne office is currently seeking to employ a Soil Technician who will be required to undertake both field and laboratory testing across a broad range of methods, including Levels 1 and 2 testing to relevant Australian Standards.

This role will require you to carry out test methods, calculations, and measurements while following procedures directed by Senior Technicians. You will also be required to uphold equipment maintenance, OH&S, and environmental compliance whilst always keeping the work area tidy. Training would be provided for laboratory testing and soil sampling methods to the right applicant.

About you

You will be self-motivated, a fast learner, and bring a positive attitude to the team. Recent school leavers are encouraged to apply – all onsite training supplied to the right candidate (salary negotiable based on experience).

We are ideally looking for individuals who possess:

  • Valid Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Valid nuclear gauge radiation license (or willing to obtain)
  • Construction Industry White Card – required or willing to obtain
  • Previous experience operating a mounted drill rig
  • Knowledge of AS1726, AS3798, and AS1289 – Highly desirable but not essential
  • Valid Victorian Nuclear Density Gauge Licence – Highly desirable but not essential
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Ability to travel for work when required
  • Have strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, show initiative, prioritise and schedule work
  • Team player with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Good attitude with a willingness to learn
