There are certain services that are required to have Level 1 Certification and supervision during the bulk earthworks stage, then to supply customers with a Level 1 Report upon completion of the project. Here at Protest Engineering, we specialise in Level 1 Supervision and provide this information, so you will understand what is expected before we begin working on your job. We also explain why AS1289 Level 1 is necessary.

Level 1 Supervision and reporting is a requirement under the Australian Standard – AS 3798-2007, which falls under section 8.2. A qualified technician supervising earthwork is necessary to assess the quality of materials used and workmanship performed on a given project. The purpose of the assessment is to check for consistency and to verify all design requirements specified in the geotechnical engineer’s initial report are met. All materials, fill and earthworks used on the job are assessed, requiring both visual surveillance and observation along with an on-site collection of samples which are then submitted for laboratory testing.

When you contract Protest Engineering for a Level 1 job, we observe, test and report as the Geotechnical Inspection and Testing Authority (GITA) for your job. Our competent, well-trained staff are all up-to-date with the AS (Australian Standard) 1289 and Queensland TMR (Transport and Main Roads) Standards and will perform all on-site operations accordingly.
