Laboratory Manager

About the role

Protest Engineering Sunshine Coast office is currently seeking to employ a Laboratory Manager who will be required to supervise a growing soils laboratory and oversee both field and laboratory testing across a broad range of methods, including Levels 1 and 2 testing to relevant Australian Standards. You will be responsible for:

  • Coordination of day-to-day operation requirements of the laboratory including fieldwork
  • Management of a team of technicians including training & safety protocols
  • Assisting the Branch Manager with business development around the Sunshine Coast and SEQ region
  • Overseeing all sampling, testing, and reporting ensuring conformance with ISO17025 and relevant standards/methods
  • Setting, monitoring, and maintaining business plans and P&L targets alongside the Branch Manager
  • Responsible for project success including invoicing.

You will be self-motivated, a fast learner, and bring a positive attitude to the team. Recent school leavers are encouraged to apply – all onsite training supplied to the right candidate (salary negotiable based on experience).

Requirements and Qualifications:

We are ideally looking for individuals who possess:

  • Open current driver’s license
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Valid nuclear gauge radiation license (or willing to obtain)
  • Construction Industry White Card – required or willing to obtain
  • Ability to travel for work when required
  • Ability to work under pressure, show initiative, prioritise, and schedule work
  • Team player with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Good attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Minimum Cert IV in Laboratory techniques or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in the Construction Materials Testing industry.
  • Exceptional knowledge in Australian Standards Testing.
  • Must have strong written and communication skills.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and exceed on time management tasks.
  • Must have the ability to work with multiple clients and projects.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
